Paul Klee is one of the most important artists of classical modernism in the 20th century. His works reflect influences from various art movements, such as Expressionism and Constructivism. His oeuvre also reveals elements of Surrealism. He taught at the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau and was closely associated with the artists' association Der Blaue Reiter. The so-called Tunis Journey, which he undertook in 1914 with August Macke and Louis Moilliet, is legendary in 20th-century art history.
